Hiking to Neraidospilia Cave on Mount Parnassos

On Sunday, September 13, 2026, we hike on Mount Parnassos, starting from the traditional village of Vargiani and heading towards the impressive Neraidospilia Cave. A special mountain route through dense fir forest, combining hiking with the opportunity to explore one of the most distinctive caves in the area.

🔶 What You Will Experience

The hike begins in Vargiani and follows forest roads and mountain trails on Mount Parnassos, through dense fir forest and among centuries-old plane trees. As we gradually gain elevation, the landscape changes and the views open up towards the surrounding slopes and mountains.

Our destination is Neraidospilia Cave, located at an altitude of approximately 1,400 metres. After reaching the cave and provided that conditions allow, we will enter the cave in an organised manner using the required equipment, in order to discover its natural water pools and distinctive geological formations.

🔶 Neraidospilia Cave

The final approach to Neraidospilia Cave follows a descending trail with some rocky sections that require careful movement. At specific points along the approach, fixed ropes are available as an aid while moving along the trail and are used according to the instructions of the hiking guides.

Inside the cave, the natural surface may be wet and slippery. Entry requires a mountaineering/climbing helmet and a headlamp.

Wanderlust Outdoor Activities & Travel provides helmets for rent at a cost of €5 per person. Helmet rental must be requested in the comments field when making your booking, so that the necessary equipment availability can be secured. Participants who already own a suitable mountaineering or climbing helmet may use their own.

Entry into Neraidospilia Cave will take place only if the weather conditions and the condition of the natural terrain allow safe access and exploration.
