Mushroom Exploration & Hiking in Mainalo

On Sunday, 29 November 2026, Wanderlust Outdoor Activities & Travel invites you to Mount Mainalo for an experience combining mushroom exploration and hiking through the autumn forests of Arcadia. The route starts at Pilalistra, just outside the village of Piana, and ends in Alonistaina, following trails through fir forests and clearings full of life.

The presence and variety of mushrooms depend on weather conditions and the season. The activity focuses on observation and learning about the forest, without guaranteeing a particular quantity of mushrooms to collect.

The activity is suitable for participants with a basic level of fitness. No previous hiking or mushroom collecting experience is required. Before registering, please consult the activity information table for the route details and requirements.

• Meeting point: Agios Antonios Metro Station at 06:40 a.m.
• Booking: advance payment is required to secure your place. Detailed instructions are sent by email

🔶 After the hike

At the end of the route, we hold a short mushroom presentation and identification session with the certified mushroom expert, covering the classification of specimens, their basic features and safety guidelines, with time for questions from the group.

After completing the route, subject to the time available, we will stop for a meal at a local taverna in Alonistaina before returning to Athens. The meal is optional and is not included in the participation fee.
