Trekking With your Dog in Oak Forest Moggostou

On Saturday 1/2 we will hike our four-legged friends to the Oak forest Mongostou in mountainous Corinth on a beautiful circular route! It is time for the 1st “Trekking With Your Dog” outside of Attica!

Dryodasos is one of the few remnants of the ancient oak forests of the Peloponnese. It was declared an aesthetic forest of the NATURA network in 1977 and among the centuries-old oak trees it hosts a multitude of species of flora and fauna. Some of them are the black pine, the Aleppo pine, the heather, the Cephalonian fir, the holly, the phylloxera, the juniper, the kumari as well as various species of wildflowers. In historical reports we find that lions lived in the Prehistoric Period, which "created" the mythical "Nemean lion".

About halfway through our route we will have the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful view of the Corinthian Gulf, the coasts and the mountains of Boeotia (Helikon and Parnassos) and Phocis if the horizon is so clear. We will hike among vineyards for about 800 meters and this at an altitude of 900m!

This is an easy route with a total length of approximately 10 km. Without major slopes and is ideal for children.

Relaxing through hiking in nature with your dog is beneficial for both of you, physically and mentally!At the same time, there will be a lecture - seminar and questions - answers from dog trainer Petros Sidereas!

With our collaboration with a dog trainer as an outdoor recreation company, this project is implemented with absolute safety on the mountain for both people and dogs!Participants without a dog are also welcome.

Important: Two (2) free tickets are available for the dogs of the shelters who are living permanently, so that we can give them the opportunity to go for a nice walk! The volunteers of the animal welfare associations should contact us prior registration.

• The use of a flex guide and any type of choke collar is not permitted.
• It is recommended the dog has not eaten for 6-8 hours before the walk.
• We don't forget dog's treats, water, a bowl, favorite toy and bags for dirt.
• Health booklet is considered essential.

During this particular hike, there will also be a distribution of sponsored treats from the specialized products of the Kynopolis Dog Caregiver Training School by Urban Dogs, a selection targeted for the occasion:Nature's Food Organic Woofers (Dental)

Because we cannot use a bus with our dogs and for environmental reasons we can not each use their car to reach the starting point of the hike. A group chat will be created 3 days before our activity in order to create the possibility of Car Pooling for anyone who wishes! It may not be widely known in Greece yet but the benefits are not only financial but also environmental as we mentioned!
