Three days on Agrafa Mountain

On the three-day of Clean Monday we depart for Agrafa! We will hike on the path to the Kremasi waterfall in Thrapsimi and on the slopes of eastern Agrafa on lush green paths with a view of Lake Plastira! We will relax at the thermal baths of Smokovo! Traditional Koulouma and wine tasting at wineries in Karditsa will take off our trip!

On Saturday 01/03 we depart for the village of Thrapsimi where we will take a short 3 km hike to visit the 18-meter waterfall called Kremasis and then we will arrive at the village square where we will enjoy local pies, tsipouro and wine!

We then depart for the Smokovo Baths where we will stay at a local hotel and enjoy the afternoon baths in a specially designed area.

The thermal waters gush from five springs at a natural temperature of 37 to 40.2 degrees Celsius and are channeled into the hydrotherapy center. They have a sulfur-alkaline composition, a slight smell of hydrogen sulfide and are considered among the best in Greece.

On Saturday afternoon we will visit the distillery of Professor of Oenology and Spirits Thanos Karathanos in the village of Paliouri! There we will taste wine, tsipouro, but also the aged tsipouro "Puro". The Professor was one of the pioneers in the idea of aged tsipouro. "Puro" was what the people of Agrafa called the point of the still where the tsipouro was distilled! The tour will be conducted personally by the professor!

On Sunday we will depart for the villages above Lake Plastiras. Specifically, we will hike in eastern Agrafa starting from the village of Neraida along a beautiful green path among tall fir trees, ending in the village of Fylakti! Our intermediate stop will be at the Agrafa mountain refuge in the Karamanoli area. The total distance will be 8.5 km. 

After the end of the hike we will talk about wine tasting at the Karamitros winery which is a landmark for the wine region of Thessaly. The region is famous for the Black Mesenikola which is produced only there. It is now recognized as an innovative wine with a unique personality, which after centuries has won a place at the top.

On Clean Monday, the Koulouma will be celebrated in a special way in the central square of the village of Thrapsimi where there will be an opportunity to taste homemade Lenten delicacies!

Before we go to Thrapsimi, we will highlight the “Filia Gi” winery. This is a modern winery that was built in 2014 and the history of the vineyard begins in 2000. In the magnificent vineyard, in the underground cellar for aging and maturation, and in the monastic tasting room, there are hidden treasures waiting for us to discover with the guidance of the family.

There will be free time in the morning for anyone who wishes to visit the baths again for a pool, sauna or massage.

Departure for Athens will take place at noon at 15:00.

What Should I Bring to a Daily Hike?

Meeting point: Ag.Antonios metro station at 06:30. There will be additional stops at former Renault, Kalyftakis and Agios Stefanos.

There is the possibility for anyone who does not wish to participate in Sunday's hike to have 5 hours of free time at Lake Plastiras and Kalyvia Pezoulas.

After your registration you will receive an email with all possible payment methods. To secure your place, a prepayment of €100 is required within the next three days. The 2nd installment of €120 is due by 14/2. From 15/2 onwards the amount is paid in full
