Karyes Lakonia the Chestnut trail

On Sunday 6/4 we will hike the chestnut trail, route 6 of the Caryatides Trail paths in Karya of Parnonas Mt, on a lush green route with beautiful forests!

The Chestnut Trail offers to hikers several kilometers of exploration in the dense forest of chestnut trees, oaks, plane trees, firs and black pines on the slopes of Parnonas east of the village.

The European path E4 passes through Karyes and has been known since antiquity, with references to both its residents and the sanctuary of the Caryatides of Artemis.

The village is associated with the Caryatides, the young girls of Karyes who are depicted in the Erechtheion of the Acropolis, as well as in a statue that exists on a hill in the settlement.

The route we will follow is loop and rewards the hiker with stunning landscapes, untouched ravines with old fountains and waterfalls, and of course the beautiful chestnut trees that are everywhere.

Participants should be in moderate physical condition, with no recent injury.
