Stropones Gorge and Chiliadou Beach
On Sunday Κυριακή 15/06 we will hike and cross the Stropones gorge, in a unique hiking experience in central Evia!
The start of the path will be from the village of Stropones from the paved street to the left of the church of Agia Triada.Our movement is parallel to the river bed and under the shade of leafy plane trees, next to the coolness of the crystal waters of the river where in some places they form small pedestals.
From this point onwards we continuously follow the river bed, since there is no specific path.
The river will have to be crossed continuously, from one bank to the other.
After hiking for about 2.5 hours inside the canyon, we leave the riverbed and the landscape changes. From this point onwards the hike continues on a rural road with natural shade from wonderful cherry, walnut and plane trees.
The path ends at the famous beach of Chiliados, after a course of about four kilometers, with a total length of over 400 meters, this beautiful beach with crystal clear waters was once a pirate stronghold.
In fact, many of the locals claim to be their descendants. What is certain is that it got its name from the Byzantine church of Panagia Chiliadou which is located very close to the beach.
At this particular beach we will have the opportunity to enjoy our sea bath and relax in the blue waters of the Aegean!
Participants should be in moderate physical condition, with no recent injury and not participating in hiking for the first time.
Meeting point: Ag.Antonios metro station at 07:00 am in the morning.
