🔶 The Hiking Route in Detail

The hike begins at Lake Doxa and follows an uphill trail through a dense fir forest.

• The first 2.5 kilometers involve a 340-meter elevation gain, with an average incline of 13%.
• The most demanding section ends where the sign for “Gkiona” appears.
• We reach the traditional shepherd’s hut (stani) of Gkogakis — a perfect spot for rest and panoramic views of Lake Doxa, Mount Ziria, and the Feneos basin.
• A wide dirt road of 2.3 km follows, offering stunning vistas over the highlands.
• The route finishes on a 2.5 km trail leading to the Monastery of Saint George of Feneos — a key historical and spiritual site with sweeping views over the mountainous zone.
